2009-10 Concert Season

Remembrance - Spring 2010

RemembranceOur spring concert will feature music that evokes memory, struggle and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit. Joined by noted harpist Elizabeth Asmus and cellist Andrew Rammon, The Singers will perform John Rutter's arrangement of Faure's Requiem. In recognition of the 65th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust, The Singers will perform selections from David McCullough's emotionally powerful Holocaust Cantata. The program will also include spirituals and gospel favorites. Taken together, these pieces remind us of the great comfort and inspiration that music can bring to those bearing the burden of oppression, persecution or loss. They remind us as well of the continuing struggle all of us face to remember injustices of the past, in order to bring peace and justice to the world today. Please mark your calendars now for what promises to be a tremendously moving performance.

American Composer's Choral Festival

American Composer's Choral FestivalMarch 2010 will mark the inaugural American Composer's Choral Festival. Each year The Harrisburg Singers, together with choirs from area churches, will invite a noted American composer to lead us in a celebration of his or her music. For our first Celebration we will welcome K. Lee Scott, one of America's foremost composers of sacred songs and instrumental works. Joining The Harrisburg Singers for what promises to be an evening of memorable performances will be members of the choirs of seven local churches, and musicians from The Hershey Symphony. Mr. Scott will conduct the combined choir of 150 to 200 voices in performances of some of his best known pieces. He will also direct The Harrisburg Singers and our guest instrumentalists in individual performances. You will not want to miss this unique event!
